She had a plan to launch a web series that would examine gender-based representations in video games and found herself the target of a harassment online campaign. However the attack could have been a hindrance, rather it made her more determined as a feminist critic of media. She has won many awards for her contributions to the cause of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational nonprofit that studies the way women are depicted in the popular culture stories.
